A meteorite fell on Wethersfield on November 8, 1982. It was the second meteorite to fall in the town in the span of 11 years, and crashed through the roof of a house without injuring the occupants, as the first Wethersfield meteorite had also done. It was 40 years ago this month that an alien visitor dropped in on Wethersfield. Paul J. and Minnie Cassarino were sleeping in their house on Middletown Avenue early on the morning of April 8 when an uninvited guest from outer space crashed through their roof - a meteorite about three inches across. The Cassarinos have since passed away but their grandson, Michael Cassarino of Rocky Hill, remembers the commotion and excitement that ensued. Michael Cassarino was only 9 at the time but he remembers his father getting a call from his grandmother. Eleven years later, in November 1982, another meteorite crashed into the Church Street home of Robert and Wanda Donahue, barely two miles from the 1971 home invasion from outer space. Read more
