 Europe ponders future of ATV space truck

A major decision needs to be taken at the end of this year concerning the future of Europe's space truck - the Automated Transfer Vehicle.
The programme is nearing its end and European Space Agency (Esa) member states will gather in Caserta, Italy, in November to decide on a successor project.
For those who don't know their shuttle from their Soyuz too well, the ATV is a huge robotic spacecraft that delivers supplies to the International Space Station.

Create your Own ATV model

This is what you will need:
A  ruler,  a  Scotch  Tape,  a  pair  of  scissors,  a  Stanley  Knife,  a  Glue  Stick, Universal  Glue,  cardboard  and  finally:  a  Paperclip  (unfolded),  to  bend  the cones and cylinders, and a small pin, which will become the RDS at the end.

US and Europe plan new spaceship

Europe and the US could be building a spaceship together later this decade.
It is one of the ideas being considered as Europe ponders the next evolution of its ATV orbital freighter.
The sophisticated robotic vessel is used to transport up to 7.5 tonnes of supplies to the space station, but only three more units are in production.
