The second meteorite fall in Sicily, southern Italy, took place at around 01.00 pm on Saturday, July 16, 1955, near Camaro, a village about two miles west of Messina. A man, who was at home at that hour, heard a thud followed immediately by a roar; he went out to inspect the area around his home and noticed that a low pile of rocks split, prepared for some road repairs had been hit by a black stone the size of a pineapple. The stone had not created a crater, but it had penetrated about 20 cm. in the pile of broken stones, where it was found it had divided into three major fragments beside other much smaller fragments.
