The Krishna district administration came forward to allot 321 acres of land near Gollalamoda near Nagayalanka in Krishna district for setting up a satellite launching pad by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

For weeks, speculation has been swirling about India's plans to build a new launch site. Selecting a proper site somewhere close to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota might seem like the most logical solution, but other coastal sites along India's east coast anywhere from Andhra Pradesh to Orissa might prove to be suitable.
Dr K. Radhakrishnan, ISRO's Chairman and Secretary, has hinted that a concerted effort might get underway next year, and that India will aggressively pursue smaller foreign payloads in particular once this new launch site is completed.

ISRO's 2nd space port to be a 'polar shift'?

The national space agency may be planning to separate its two satellite launchers fully or partially and move some or all polar or PSLV launches to a new second site when - or if - it happens in the coming years.
The seed of a second space port has been sown after the Prime Minister's office green-flagged a feasibility study for it earlier this month.

India to Have One More Satellite Launch Site

Amid requests from various countries for launch of their satellites, India has decided to set up one more launch site to expand its capacity in this aspect.
At a meeting held by the Prime Minister's Principal Secretary T K A Nair here to review performance of the Department of Space, it was decided that a feasibility study would be conducted for a new site.
The decision to find a new site was taken after the meeting was told that ISRO has only two satellite launch pads, both of which are affected during the cyclone season.
