World's first desert geopark opens in China

The world's first desert geopark has opened in China, authorities said.
The geopark was opened Monday in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Alxa Desert Geopark is located in Alxa League, the west of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China. This Geopark covers an area of 683.74 km². The transportation system is centered by Bayanhot, the capital ofAlxa League, dominated by the national, provincial and county highways, and the nearby Yinchuan, Wuhai, Jiayuguan and Tingxin Airports, and railways, which are easily accessible to the other areas. It is only 130 km from the Yinchuan and Wuhai Airports to Bayanhot.
