NGC 1555 (also Hind's Variable Nebula, Sharpless 238 and DG 31) is a variable magnitude +9.3 to +14.0 reflection nebula illuminated by the star T Tauri, located 460 light-years away in the constellation Taurus.
The nebula was discovered by English astronomer John Russell Hind using a 18.0 cm (7 inch) Dollond refractor at George Bishop's Observatory near Regent's Park, London on the 11th October 1852.
