Agni V, India's longest-range ballistic missile, test-fired successfully from Odisha

Giving an edge to the country's strategic strike capability, India successfully carried out the maiden trial of its most potent missile Agni-V on the last day in office of sacked DRDO chief Avinash Chander. The missile, which has a strike range of over 5,000 kms and can carry a nuclear warhead of over one tonne, was launched from a canister mounted on a roadmobile launcher at Wheeler Island off Odisha coast.

India has launched a long-range intercontinental ballistic missile able to carry a nuclear warhead, say media.
The locally-developed Agni-V missile was originally scheduled to have been launched on Wednesday in the eastern state of Orissa.

The maiden test-firing of Agni-V Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile, scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed at the last moment till tomorrow due to bad weather conditions at the test range off the coast of Odisha in the Bay of Bengal.

India's ambitious 5,000-km range Agni-V nuclear-capable missile will be launched soon, a senior scientist said here Sunday.
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) chief controller R&D (Missiles and Strategic Systems) Avinash Chander said here that the strategic missile was in the final phase of testing and could be launched soon.
