On January 23, 1877, at 4:00 P.M., a brilliant meteor display was observed in Monroe County, Ind., and Harrison County, Ky. This stone is classified as an olivine-hypersthene chondrite (petrologic type L4). A farmer heard the meteorite strike the ground approximatly 9 miles from Cynthiana and recovered a stone of approximately 13 pounds. Source (PDF)
