Eyes on the Sky: May 14 thru May 20

A few more double stars can be seen in Bootes this week too (several were highlighted last week), see the May 20 solar eclipse from the western part of the United States, and areas of the Pacific and Asia, and don't miss the "Night Sky Notes" so you will know where to see Venus, Mars and Saturn in the evening sky.

Eyes on the Sky: May 7 thru May 13

Credit eyesontheskyDOTcom

As Mars retrogrades away from the 1st magnitude Regulus in Leo, it again helps point the way to 3 galaxies in the Lion constellation. Faint and dim t be sure, but easier to find when a bright planet is nearby. If that's a bit challenging, "arc to Arcturus" again as in the prior weeks, and then double-back to some double stars in Bootes. Also this week: See Venus still near Alnath and Saturn is easy to spot near Spica.
