The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has approved new names for three features on Mars.
Aeolis Mons for a 88.99-km-wide Martian mountain located at -5.08°S, 137.8°E. The feature was named in honour of the classical albedo feature.
Aeolis Palus for a 111.63-km-wide Martian plain located at -4.47°S, 137.42°E. The feature was named in honour of the classical albedo feature.
Robert Sharp for a 152.08-km-wide Martian crater located at -4.17°S, 133.42°E. The feature was named in honour of the American geologist Robert Phillip Sharp (1911-2004).
