The Marjalahti meteorite fell at 10:00 p.m, 1st June, 1902, in Viipuri, Karelia, Russia (the area was then part of Finland). This pallasite hit a granite outcrop by lake Ladogag and produced a large dust cloud, with fragments spread over 50 metres, with some falling into the lake. The event was witnessed by J. Koppinen. The impact pulverised the meteorite olivine crystals. The main mass of the meteorite is in the Geological Museum of the University of Helsinki.
