The Popocatepetl volcano that towers over Mexico City began rumbling again Friday, shooting a blast of ash about 3 kilometres above its crater at dawn. Mexico's Popocatepetl volcano erupted at 6:20 a.m. local time, (12:20 GMT), on Saturday, spewing steam and ash over 2 km high. The eruption was followed by six more blasts over the following 24 hours. An area of 12 kilometres around the mountain was blocked off by the local authorities. The 5, 465- metre volcano is located 70 km southeast of the Mexican capital.
