Bundaberg residents who are prepared to make a late night or an early morning of it could be treated to an upcoming celestial spectacular.
Alloway Observatory director Mac Jonsen said the Geminids meteor shower was expected to light up the sky in the next two weeks, peaking on December 14.

An anomaly occurred during final chronology for Flight 193-HELIOS 2B, thus halting the count-down.
Since the launch was to occur within a precise instant, a new attempt was not possible today.
The launch vehicle and its HELIOS 2B satellite payload are in stand-by mode and maintained in fully safe conditions.
A new date for the mission will be announced as soon as possible.

Local residents could have been forgiven for thinking Santa was making his rounds early last Sunday night when a bright light was seen moving across the sky.
However it seems the light was actually from one of space's most spectacular meteor showers
Kinallen man Richard Musgrave spotted the ball of fire in the sky last Sunday night - and experts believe it could have been the start of the annual Geminid meteor shower.

On the night of 13th December I went to a village named Dhosa the regular place for stargazing. We went there to observe the Geminids meteor shower. I went with Ashwin Vaghela and another member Yogesh. Like the Leonids, this year's Geminids was also predicted to be best and stronger than usual. We left for the observing site at 10:00pm and got there at 10:40pm. The village is only 15 kms from Bhuj but due to bad roads it takes more time to reach! We were on bikes and on the way we saw 4 meteors. Here is the brief detail of our observation....
