China successfully launched another two satellites into space for its indigenous global navigation and positioning network at 3:10 a.m. Beijing time on Wednesday.

China launches 2 satellites to enlarge its own GPS

China today successfully launched two satellites into space to enlarge its indigenous global navigation network being built to rival United States global positioning system. The 14th and 15th satellites for the Beidou, or Compass, system being built by China were launched from Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in southwest Sichuan province, by a Long March-3B carrier rocket.

A CZ-3B/E rocket with the Compass navigation system Beidou 2-M5 and Beidou 2-M2 satellites were successfully launched from the Xichang launch facility on the 18th September, 2012.
