Dr. Bill Cooke, a meteor expert at Huntsville's Marshall Space Flight Centre, said Monday, Nov. 5, that private collectors found the meteorite fragments on a road near the Bankhead National Forest.

The Addison (chondrite?) meteorite fell in Alabama, USA, on the 30th October, 2012.
An unknown total mass has been recovered.

Hundreds of meteorites may be on the ground near Addison, but can they be found?

Experts say there could be hundreds of meteorites on the ground in northwest Alabama after last week's big meteor fall, but so far only two small ones have been found. That shows how hard it is to find a rock on forest floors deep in fallen leaves.

It's Addison, Alabama's meteorite now after 2 fragments are found

The first fragments of a meteorite that hit Alabama last week have been found in or near Addison, Alabama, in Winston County. The two fragments, found Saturday, are from what is now provisionally called the Addison meteorite. Meteorites are named after the closest city to where they were found.

NASA team searching for meteorites that fell in North Alabama Oct. 30

A six-person NASA search team is combing fields and forests northwest of Cullman today for what could be the first meteorites recovered on the ground in Alabama since 1954. Dr. Bill Cooke, Marshall Space Flight Centre's meteor expert, said today the shower of meteorites came from a daylight meteor that streaked across the sky at 5:30 p.m. CDT on Oct. 30. Cullman is midway between Birmingham and Huntsville in north Alabama.

Multiple meteor sightings provide October surprise

A fireball was spotted across the sky in Jackson, Tennessee, Tuesday morning; it could be seen from Kentucky, Alabama and even Louisiana, according to Bill Cooke with NASA's Meteoroid Environments Office.
The fireball was officially clocked at 6:11 a.m. local time, with over 60 eyewitness accounts of the sighting across the South.
