Discovery in Palermo: is this a meteorite?

Just a few days before the much hyped end of the world, a strange extraterrestrial appeared in Palermo. A strange glowing object that fell ... straight from the sky was discovered in the capital of Sicily. The object was found by a little girl, who saw it falling to the ground.
However, many local residents swear that they have also seen the object falling from the sky. The girl and her parents tried to wrap the found thing in a newspaper, but, of course, the paper immediately caught fire.

Mystery in Palermo
A meteorite fell Brancaccio?

For a little girl in the neighbourhood of Brancaccio, Palermo, a black stone fell from the sky.
She saw the object, from her balcony, fall in a field not far from home and end up in a puddle.
She just woke up this morning, went in search of the stone and found it.
The black stone is about six inches wide and weighs a pound.
