The Wounded Knee Massacre occurred on December 29, 1890, near Wounded Knee Creek (Lakota: Chankpé Opi Wakpála) on the Lakota Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, USA. It was the last battle of the American Indian war.
