The Clohars (L4) meteorite fell in France, on the 21st June, 1822. A total mass of 48.6 g was recovered.
Location: unknown
We know little about this meteorite. It only appears in 1897 in the collection of the National Museum of Natural History in Paris when Stanislas Meunier buys from a lady a meteorite of 6 grams. The exact mass is not known, but should be about 50 grams. Lacroix has done some research in local archives without finding any written indication of this fall. Source (French)
Observation sur une météorite française dont la chute, survenue à Clohars en 1822
I just bought for the collections of the Museum, a very small fragment of meteorite with a small half-faded label on which reads as 'Meteorite fell into the common Clohars-Fouesnon June 21, given by M. Bezier'. Although my efforts have remained unsuccessful to find any documentation on this fall, which has gone unnoticed, its reality remains established. It is indeed the sample, the meteoritic nature can also not be disputed, belongs to a very rare rock types and can not be confused with any other. Source (French)
