NGC 398 (also PGC 4090, MCG 5-3-65, GWT 501 100, ARAK 31 and NPM1G 32.0049) is a magnitude +14.5 lenticular galaxy located 229 million light-years away in the constellation Pisces.
The galaxy was discovered by French astronomer Guillaume Bigourdan using a 30.48 cm (12 inch) refractor at the Paris Observatory on the 28th October 1886.
