NGC 973 (also IRAS 02313+3217, MCG 5-7-13, UGC 2048 and PGC 9795) is a magnitude +12.8 spiral galaxy located 223 million light-years away in the constellation Triangulum.  

The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Lewis A. Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 30th October 1885. 

Right Ascension 02h 34m 20.1s, Declination 32° 30' 20"
