NGC 543 (also PGC 5311, MCG 0-4-138, GWT 385 130 or DRCG 7-53) is a magnitude +13.3 lenticular galaxy located 243 million light-years (61.8 million parsecs) away in the constellation Cetus.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/17.5 refractor at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 31st October 1864.
