NGC 1537 (also PGC 14695, ESO 420-12, MCG -5-11-5 or AM 0411-314) is a magnitude +10.5 lenticular galaxy located 52 million light years away in the constellation Eridanus.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at Feldhausen, Claremont, Cape Town on the 18th November 1835.
It can be observed with a 120mm aperture telescope about 2 degrees to the NNW of the blue main-sequence star Upsilon-4 Eridani, and is visible as an elongated east-west circular patch, that shows no detail.
