NGC 2196 (also ESO 556-4, MCG -4-15-14, UGCA 121, IRAS06100-2147 and PGC 18602) is a magnitude +10.9 spiral galaxy located about 107 million light-years away in the constellation Lepus.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 20th November 1784.
