NGC 2248 is an asterism located 5675 ±261 light-years away in the constellation Gemini.
The asterism was discovered by Irish astronomer Edward Cooper using a 34.29 cm (13.5 inch) refractor telescope at the Markree Observatory on the 23rd December 1853.
