Elbert County, Colorado, USA

Ordinary chondrite (LL6)
A fireball was observed over Elbert County and reported in several local newspapers. A single 680.5 g stone was found in a field on 2000 March 4, by Dustin Riffel, a five-year-old boy, while walking with his mother on their family property.
Classification (A. Rubin, UCLA): Olivine, Fa30.5 ± 0.44, shock stage S2, weathering grade W0. Specimens: type specimen, 19 g, UCLA; main mass with Riffel family.

On 11 January 1998 a fireball was seen over Elbert County. On 4 March 2000 a stone of 680.5 g was found in a field by the five year old Dustin Riffel on the property of his family. It was officially named "Elbert" and it was classified as an ordinary chondrite LL6.

The Elbert (LL6) meteorite fell in Colorado, USA, on the 11th January 1998.
A total mass of 681 g was recovered.
