THE COMET.

The Sydney Herald records as a singular circumstance that a brilliant meteor was observed upon the first appearance of the comet, a phenomenon also attendant upon the visit of the splendid comet in 1843. We are not aware that the meteor was observed here; but such appearances are not uncommon in the southern hemisphere, and the coincidence referred to may probably be ascribed to the increased observation attracted by the comet.
