NGC 2836 (also ESO 61-3, IRAS09131-6907 and PGC 26017) is a magnitude +11.8 spiral galaxy located 78 million light-years away in the constellation Carina.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Feldhausen, Claremont, Cape Town, on the 29th January 1835.
