NGC 2327 (also CED 89B) is a magnitude +14.7 emission nebula (the remnants of a supernova) located 3800 light years away in the constellation Canis Major.
The nebula was discovered by German-British William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 31st January 1785.
NGC 2327 together with the nebula IC 2177 creates a larger nebula called the Seagull nebula (NGC 2327 forms the head, and IC 2177 its body and spread wings). Hidden in the center of NGC 2327 is a magnitude +8.0 star.
