NGC 2228 (also ESO 87-7, FAIR 249, DRCG 50-89 and PGC 18862) is a magnitude +13.6 lenticular galaxy located 334 million light-years away in the constellation Dorado.

The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Feldhausen, Claremont, Cape Town, on the 31st January 1835. 

Right Ascension 06h 21m 15.9s, Declination -64° 27' 33"
