NGC 1888 (also Arp 123, IRAS 05202-1132, MCG -2-14-13 and PGC 17195) is a magnitude +12.1 near edge-on barred spiral galaxy located 112 million light years away in the constellation Lepus. NGC 1888 together with NGC 1889, lying nearby towards the NE, are classified as Arp 123.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 31st January 1785.
