NGC 2318 is a magnitude +13.6 open star cluster located 4350 light-years away in the constellation Canis Major.
The cluster was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 8th February 1785.
