NGC 2238 (also LBN 948) is a magnitude +8.5 emission nebula which is within the Rosette Nebula located 5,200 light-years away in the constellation Monoceros.
The nebula was discovered by German astronomer Albert Marth using a 1.2m (48 inch) Newtonian reflector at William Lassell's Tigné Point observatory in Sliema, Malta, on the 28th February 1864.
