NGC 2316 (also NGC 2317 and LBN 1021) is a magnitude +7.4 emission and reflection nebula located in the constellation Monoceros. The nebula was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector on the 4th March 1785. The nebula was rediscovered by Bindon Stoney in February 1851, and relisted as NGC 2317.
