NGC 3956 (also ESO 572-13, IRAS 11514-2017, MCG -3-30-16, UGCA 251 and PGC 37325) is a magnitude +12.2 face-on spiral galaxy located 76 million light-years away in the constellation Crater.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 10th March 1785.
