NGC 5483 (also ESO 271-19, IRAS 14072-4305, MCG -7-29-8 and PGC 50600) is a magnitude +11.2 barred spiral galaxy located 82 million light-years away in the constellation Centaurus.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at the Cape of Good Hope on the 15th March 1836.
