NGC 3740 (also MCG 10-17-23, UGC 6573 and PGC 35883) is a magnitude +14.0 spiral galaxy located 149 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 19th March 1790.
