NGC 4520 (also IC 799 and PGC 41748) is a magnitude +14.0 lenticular galaxy located 351 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 23rd March 1789. The galaxy was rediscovered by Lewis Swift in April 1889 and relisted as IC 799.
