NGC 6174 (also MCG 7-34-82 and PGC 58334) is a magnitude +14.0 elliptical galaxy located 379 million light-years away in the constellation Hercules.
The galaxy was discovered by astronomer George Johnstone Stoney, assistant to Irish astronomer William Parsons using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr castle on the 26th March 1849.
