NGC 2817 (also IRAS 09146-0432, MCG -1-24-6 and PGC 26223) is a magnitude +13.0 barred spiral galaxy located 162 million light-years away in the constellation Hydra.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Lewis Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 26th March 1887.
