NGC 2778 (also MCG 6-20-43, UGC 4840 and PGC 25955) is a magnitude +12.4 elliptical galaxy located 94 million light-years away in the constellation Lynx.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor on the 28th March 1786.
