NGC 2573 (also Polarissima Australis, ESO 1-1, IRAS 02425-8934 and PGC 6249) is a magnitude +13.4 spiral galaxy located 112 million light-years away in the constellation Octans. The galaxy is 40' from the south celestial pole, and located in the vicinity of NGC 2573A and NGC 2573B.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) speculum reflector at the Cape of Good Hope on the 29th March 1837.
