NGC 4955 (also ESO 443-62, MCG -5-31-34 and PGC 45340) is a magnitude +12.2 elliptical galaxy located 159 million light-years away in the constellation Hydra.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at the Cape of Good Hope on the 30th March 1835.
