NGC 3397 (also NGC 3329, IRAS 10405+7704, MCG 13-8-33, UGC 5837 and PGC 32059) is a magnitude +12.2 spiral galaxy located 89 million light-years away in the constellation Draco.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 2nd April 1801. The galaxy was rediscovered by John Herschel in September 1828 and relisted as NGC 3329.
