NGC 4749 (also IRAS 12493+7154, MCG 12-12-20, UGC 8006 and PGC 43527) is a magnitude +13.5 spiral galaxy located 78 million light-years away in the constellation Draco.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 7th April 1793.
