NGC 5936 (also IRAS 15276+1309, MCG 2-39-30, UGC 9867 and PGC 55255) is a magnitude +12.5 face-on spiral galaxy located 184 million light-years away in the constellation Serpens.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 12th April 1784.
