NGC 4639 (also IRAS 12403+1331, MCG 2-32-189, UGC 7884 and PGC 42741) is a magnitude +11.5 barred spiral galaxy located 47 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 12th April 1784.
