NGC 3657 (also IRAS 11212+5310, MCG 9-19-65, UGC 6406 and PGC 35002) is a magnitude +12.4 face-on spiral galaxy located 56 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 12th April 1789.
