NGC 5683 (also MCG 8-27-3 and PGC 52114) is a magnitude +14.8 barred spiral galaxy located 499 million light-years away in the constellation Boötes.
The galaxy was discovered by Anglo-Irish astronomer George Johnstone Stoney using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 13th April 1850.
