NGC 4006 (also MCG 0-31-6, UGC 6951 and PGC 37655) is a magnitude +12.6 elliptical galaxy located 269 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 15th April 1828.
