NGC 5931 (also MCG 1-39-23 and PGC 55233) is a magnitude +14.0 lenticular galaxy located 602 million light-years away in the constellation Serpens.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Lewis Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 19th April 1887.
